Geospatial Analytics Leader Space-Time Insight Secures Series A Funding From Opus Capital

Fremont, CA, February 2, 2009 — Space-Time Insight, Inc. today announced it has secured Series A financing from Opus Capital, a leading early-stage venture capital firm in Menlo Park, CA. Space-Time Insight helps electrical power utilities and other critical infrastructure companies view real-time operating status in a geospatial context for rapid understanding and fast response to vital circumstances.

Space-Time Insight rapidly delivers critical information to its customers by combining enterprise data from multiple internal data sources (e.g., ERPs, databases, sensors, control systems) and inbound web feeds (e.g., severe weather, wild fires, floods, lightning) to display location-based, context-sensitive information, visually and intuitively, on satellite and plant-level images.

“Our mission is to help companies and governments transform the way they visualize and consume geospatial and temporal data to advance decision-making and accelerate action-taking,” said Krishna Kumar, CTO and founder of Space-Time Insight. “The funding from Opus will help us propel our growth, scale our proprietary technology faster and engage more channels of distribution.”

“Public utilities, process industries and all critical infrastructure segments are continually challenged by massive amounts of real-time data from multiple sources,” said Dr. Mark L. Feldman, CEO of Space-Time Insight. “Capturing and synthesizing this data into meaningful, actionable information is overwhelming and amplifies decision risk related to public service, emergency response, reputation, compliance and day-to-day business challenges.” Previously, Feldman and colleague Jasvir Gill, who is a Space-Time Insight board member and senior executive, were central to the success of Virsa Systems, a compliance leader acquired by SAP.

“Until now there simply has not been a technology solution for tackling these massive volumes of critical data and making them immediately actionable,” said Gill Cogan, general partner of Opus Capital, who has joined the Space-Time Insight board of directors. “We are excited to be working with this committed team of professionals and continuing our long relationship with Mark and Jasvir.”
